What will it take to win your seat?
Pick your seat and answer a few simple questions. You see the votes you need and the size of your seat, built on IEBC results, with no account. The Campaign Plan & Budget then sets out your team and your budget.
How many votes does it take to win a seat in Kenya?
Take the registered voters, multiply by the turnout you expect, then by the share of the vote that wins. In Butsotso East ward, with 11,165 registered voters and 60% turnout in 2022, matching the winner's 53% share takes about 3,500 votes. The tool does this for every Governor, Senator, Woman Representative, MP and MCA seat. Your turnout and vote share are your own assumptions, not a forecast.
How to win an MCA seat in Kenya
- Know your number: the votes you need, from the seat's own register and turnout.
- Find where the votes are: the polling centres that cast the most votes, and where turnout was lowest.
- Put a captain in every polling centre and an agent in every polling station.
- Budget for it before you spend: people, transport, events and polling day.
How much does an MCA or MP campaign cost in Kenya?
It depends on the size of the seat. UshindiOS planning estimates come to about KES 1.1 to 1.8 million for a ward like Butsotso East (18 polling centres) and KES 4.5 to 7.3 million for a constituency like Lurambi (175 polling stations), from a lean plan to a full one. The Campaign Plan & Budget works it out for your own seat.
